Szentendre is situated at the entrance of the Danube Bend, at the meeting point of the Pilis and Danube , in a marvellous natural area. The village is a significant tourist attraction thanks to its artistic and cultural life. Szentendre is easy to reach from Budapest with car, suburban rail, scheduled buses or ship.
The quiet life of the village is preferred by artists. More than 200 artist, writer, poet, musician and actors are living and work in Szentendre.
Szentendre is full of museums and exhibitions. The most remarkables are the Kovács Margit Museum , the Diamond Museum , the Marzipan Museum and the Outdoor Folk Museum (Skanzen). The latter exhibit the folk architecture and traditional folk life of Hungary on a territory of 46 ha. The exhibitions are accompanied by craft shows, folklore and theatre performances.
In the downtown of Szentendre more then 50 restaurants are waiting for visitors with the special Hungarian and international cuisine. You can have a rest in the confectioner's and Café's or taste wines in the Wine Museum.
Beside the cultural attractions there are a lots of possibilities for active recreation in the village and surrounding: excursions, bicycle trips, beach at the Pap Island, horse riding.
